Pianist to perform Feb. 17 at ISU

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Pianist Lori Rhoden will perform as part of the Indiana State University Visiting Artist Series at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 in the Recital Hall of the Center for Performing and Fine Arts.

She will also present a master class for piano students, "Sight Reading Boot Camp," from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday, Feb. 18 in the Recital Hall. Both events, sponsored by the ISU music department and the Wabash Valley Music Teachers Association, are free and open to the public.

Rhoden will perform works by Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin, Prokofiev and Hough at her recital on Feb. 17.

She is associate professor of music performance and coordinator of piano pedagogy and group piano at Ball State University. A nationally certified music teacher, Rhoden maintains an active schedule as a soloist, collaborative artist, clinician, and adjudicator.

She completed her doctor of musical arts degree in piano pedagogy and performance at the University of South Carolina. She received the master of church music degree and performer's certificate in piano from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, in addition to a bachelor of Music Education degree and certificate in Piano Performance from Florida State University.

An active member of Music Teachers National Association, she is currently serving on MTNA collegiate chapter committees. She is immediate past president of the Indiana Music Teachers Association and serves as chair of the state collegiate chapters of MTNA / IMTA. Rhoden is a member of the College Music Society, Music Teachers National Association, Indiana Music Teachers Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Kappa Phi, and the Christian Performing Artists Fellowship.
