The concert, which raises money for scholarships for wind and percussion students, will feature the ISU Wind Orchestra, Symphonic Band and the world-renowned Boston Brass. The concert will feature works including "Heroes," John Wasson's "Tangents," "Prelude and Fantasy," a premiere for quintet and band by Rick DeYoung and a number of favorites performed by the Boston Brass.
The quintet has transcended the traditional mores of brass ensemble literature and, with a host of original arrangements, has pioneered a new generation of music that sets out to achieve one simple goal: entertain at all costs with blistering precision. Whether performing solo or with a symphony orchestra, the fun and emotion exhibited by the Boston Brass is uniquely infectious and keeps audiences on their feet.
Performing more than 100 concerts annually, the Boston Brass has have dazzled audiences at concerts and jazz festivals around the world.
The group has been featured on CBS television's "The Early Show," National Public Radio's "Performance Today," The Great American Brass Band Festival, and has recorded several ground breaking albums.
The scholarship concert is sponsored by the ISU music department, Conservatory of Music, Juniper Music, WFIU Radio, and the Tribune-Star.
