The exhibition, which will feature works from a variety of disciplines, will be juried by Robert Schroeder, associate faculty member at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. A working artist and independent curator, he served as Curator of Exhibitions and Chief Curator for the Fort Wayne Museum of Art from 1989-2002.
Schroeder will present "Christo and Jeanne-Claude: An Overview" in the Recital Hall of the Center for Performing and Fine Arts at 5:30 p.m. Feb. 8. He previously worked with these two world-renowned artists, and will share his experiences from his involvement in one of their major projects, as well as discussing their work in a broad context. There will be a gallery reception in his honor from 5-7 p.m. that evening.
The public is also invited to attend a reception honoring the artists participating in the Juried Exhibition on Thursday, Feb. 15 from 5-8 p.m. Prizes and scholarships will be announced at an awards ceremony beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Recital Hall. Both the lecture and artists? reception are free and open to the public.
The University Art Gallery is open to the public Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Thursday from 11a.m. - 8 p.m. The gallery is located in the Center for Performing and Fine Arts at Seventh and Chestnut streets. All gallery events are free and open to the public and the facility is wheelchair accessible. The University Art Gallery is host to an outstanding schedule of exhibitions featuring modern and contemporary art and is dedicated to educating and exposing the University and its surrounding community to the visual arts.
