Indiana State University will host its annual Groundhog Day Economic Forecast Breakfast from 7 to 8:30 a.m. Feb. 2 in Dede I of the Hulman Memorial Student Union. The event is sponsored by the Terre Haute Chamber of Commerce, ISU's College of Business and Terre Haute Savings Bank and Financial Services.
The event features comments on national, state and local issues from an array of panelists. Presenters will provide various perspectives on national issues, comment on state issues, provide local business forecasting and follow up with a question and answer session.
Speakers will include Terre Haute Mayor Kevin Burke, Economic Analyst Morton Marcus, Inside Indiana Business Host Gerry Dick and Robert Guell, associate professor of economics at Indiana State.
Marcus serves as director of the Indiana Business Research Center and co-director of the Indiana Center for Econometric Model Research at Indiana University-Bloomington. He also is a lecturer in business economics and public policy for the Kelley School of Business. He has studied Indiana and Midwest economies since 1970 and is a leading expert on population, personal income, and manufacturing output in the Midwest and is a syndicated columnist on economic issues. Gerry Dick, a 1990 ISU graduate, is host and creator of Inside INdiana Business. In 2000, Dick and a partner formed Grow Indiana Media Ventures, LLC, a new media company created to deliver business and technology news and information through multiple media sources. Prior to the creation of Grow Indiana Media Ventures, Dick served as senior vice president of the Indianapolis Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).
