What: Move-in Day/Laptop distribution
When: Saturday, Aug. 19
Where: ISU residence halls
Why: Thousands of new and returning Indiana State University students will begin arriving Saturday for the start of the 2006-07 academic year.
ISU administrators will be on hand between the peak hours of 10 a.m. and noon to meet and greet students and parents. Move-in continues throughout the weekend.
After a year of renovation, Burford Hall will reopen Aug. 19. The six story structure houses approximately 240 freshmen students. Among the features available to students include theme housing for students majoring in Aerospace Technology (pro-pilot), Business, and Performing Arts; social or study lounges on each floor; two first floor music practice rooms; a performance/programming area; wireless internet and air conditioning.
Laptop distribution More than 700 incoming freshmen are recipients of the ISU Laptop Award. Those students will pick up their laptop computers Saturday and Sunday in Heritage Ballroom, between 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Monday, August 21 between 2-6 p.m.
To qualify for the ISU Laptop Award, entering freshmen must meet the have a 3.0 grade point average (based upon a 4.0 scale), have earned an Indiana Core 40 diploma or its equivalent and be admitted to Indiana State University by March 1, 2006. To be eligible, incoming freshmen must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours at ISU. Out-of-state students are also eligible for the award.
Other back-to-campus events: Sunday, Aug. 20, 7:45p.m. - 10th Annual March through the Arch for new students, Third and Cherry streets
8 p.m. Sycamore Sunday, Wolf Field Approximately 21 local businesses will participate in this event featuring fun, food and prizes. Sponsored by Student Activities and Organizations.
