Dr. D'Amico has been fascinated by languages and language learning ever since she first enrolled in her middle school Spanish class. She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area where she had the opportunity to learn about many Spanish-speaking cultures. At Penn State University, Dr. D'Amico received a B.S. degree in Spanish with a business option. Also during this time, she completed a six-month study abroad program at the Universidad de Salamanca in Spain. After graduation, Dr. D'Amico worked at the computer consulting firm, All Star Consulting, Inc. in San Francisco. Although she was pleased to put the business side of her degree to good use, Dr. D'Amico knew that her true passion was the Spanish language and she decided to return to school to study Hispanic Linguistics. Dr. D'Amico received a M.A. degree in Spanish and a Ph.D. in Romance Languages from the University of Florida with a specialization in Hispanic Linguistics. During these programs, Dr. D'Amico taught various Spanish courses as a teaching assistant and served as the assistant to the beginning level program. In addition to her Spanish and Linguistics coursework, Dr. D'Amico also studied Italian during her time at UF and participated in an intensive six-week study abroad program at the Torre di Babele Language School in Rome. Dr. D'Amico became an Assistant Professor at ISU in 2010 and is very pleased to be a part of the ISU family.
