We offer two minors having to do with Linguistics or TESL:

Minor in English as New Language (ENL)(15 hours)--Must be added to an existing indiana teaching license

If you already have a teaching license or are working on one through the College of Education, you can add ENL (English as a New Language) Licensure to this existing license. The license in ENL will be at the same level as your original license.

Required courses:

Linguistics 210--3 hrs.; 311--3 hrs.; 413 or 415--3 hrs.; 420--3 hrs.; 316 or LLL 490--3 hrs.

MINOR in language studies, with a focus on linguistics or TESL (18 hours)

Core Requirement: LLL 200 Intro. to Language and Culture for Students of LLL--3 hrs.;

Required courses (as of Fall 2010*):

A minimum of 2.5 GPA in all course work is required for the minor. Up to 3 semester hours of 100-level study in the second area may be counted toward the minor (e.g., Spanish 102, Arabic 102, etc.).

*Minors who declared before Fall 2010 are required to take 3 of the 15 credits mentioned above in a second area.  If this applies to you and you would prefer to follow the new curriculum, see your advisor about completing an exception form.  If you choose instead to change your catalog year, it will change all your degree requirements to that catalog year, not just the minor.
