Social Security

All staff of the university employed in eligible positions are required to participate in the Social Security program. The contribution rate is in accordance with existing statutes and is based on calendar year earnings effective each January 1.

Indiana State University deducts Social Security Taxes from your earnings and also pays a portion of the total Social Security tax paid.

Your Social Security taxes are used to fund five major categories of benefits : retirement, disability, family benefits, survivors, and Medicare. For further information, see Social Security Online at:
