Indiana State is No. 1 for service and among the nation’s best for offering a quality education as well as value. Our recently completed institutional strategic plan, The Pathway to Success, was a six-year endeavor to serve our campus and community. We are proud of all that we have accomplished and have done to positively impact the lives of thousands of students.

Preparing leaders for Indiana and the world is what State is all about. Recently launching our new strategic plan, There’s More to Blue, expands our commitment to our students. Through this plan our core initiatives - experiential learning, career readiness, community engagement, and inclusive excellence - are fundamental to developing graduates ready for a dynamic workforce.

Philanthropy is an important component to ensuring that the University is able to achieve its goals. To assist with this, the ISU Foundation Board of Directors and Board of Trustees voted to restructure aspects of the ISU Foundation within the Indiana State University. This resulted in the creation of the Division of Development to streamline operations on the fundraising goals of the institution.

This change builds on our recent fundraising successes. In Fiscal Year 2016, we grew practically every aspect of annual giving to State. We saw an increase of donors giving at the President’s Society level, a surge in support to Sycamore Athletics and Alumni Association, and a rise in funds raised for the greatest needs of the University, all while providing more than 46,000 stewardship touch points to our more than 6,000 donors. Through the restructuring we expect to intensify these efforts and more.

Fiscal Year 2016 Statistics

Donors: 6,808

Alumni Donors: 45%

Total Giving: $4,547,000

Going forward, we are deeply focused on growing donor support for State. The Division oversees the fundraising, receipting and acknowledgement of donations, maintenance of alumni and donor records, and the financial recordkeeping of the ISU Foundation. Through the restructuring, ISU Foundation staff became University employees. Some staff members whose job functions were already part of the University structure were absorbed by those units and offices. This model is intended to strengthen our overall fundraising efforts and more deeply integrate philanthropy within the University’s priorities. We are already seeing the benefits of this restructuring as we are collaborating more across campus and connecting University needs and opportunities with philanthropic interests that bolster student success.

As a donor to our University, you play a critical role in our success, which is why donor confidentiality remains our highest priority. To ensure that your information is safeguarded, the ISU Foundation remains as a separate 501(c)(3) and the ISU Foundation Board of Directors will remain in place to oversee the ISU Foundation. Your gifts continue to be tax deductible in alignment with tax laws.

The creation of the Division of Development has and will invigorate philanthropy at State. In the midst of our Sesquicentennial Era, we are on the brink of developing exciting fundraising projects and initiatives that our team is eager to share with you during the coming year. If you have any questions about giving to Indiana State, connect with the Development office today by calling 812-237-6100.

Thank you for your continued support. Your generosity is helping build a Bigger, Brighter, Bolder, and Better Blue.
