American Chemical Society Student Affiliates (ACS-SA)

The ACS-SA holds social activities on a regular basis and sponsors a variety of outreach activities designed to expand knowledge and interest in chemistry throughout ISU and the community. Contact an academic advisor for more information about the group's activities and how you can get involved.

Society of Physics Students

In 2008 the Society of Physics Students (SPS) attained a membership large enough to achieve recognition as an official ISU student organization for the first time in more than a decade. Professor Joe West is group's the faculty advisor. SPS sponsors various activities on campus and in the community to promote knowledge of physics, such as physics demonstrations in local schools.

Pre-Pharmacy Club

The Pre-Pharmacy Club aids ISU students in preparing for pharmacy school. Announcements about club activities and meeting dates are posted in the Department.

Employment Opportunities in the Department

The Department employs a large number of students in the lecture rooms, teaching labs, stockroom, and Science Help Center. See the student employment opportunities website for more information, including descriptions of the available positions.

Internships and Job Opportunities

Chemistry majors can earn CHEM 495 credit for participation in a chemistry internship. See the course description in the current catalog, the syllabus (PDF), or talk to an academic advisor for more details. Information about current internship and other job opportunities is available in the Chemistry Office or on the internships website.
