Community Engagement:
Students who study art education with Dr. Venable can anticipate observing and teaching art in diverse educational sites around the community. Not only do these include traditional public schools, but also pre-schools, juvenile detention centers, special education classrooms, and community centers. Additionally, Dr. Venable helps organize the creation of public works of art. He and painting professor Nancy Nichols-Pethick supervise the Gilbert Wilson Memorial Mural Project. This initiative allows students to work with internationally known artists to create large-scale murals throughout the community.
